This was a tough assignment in that I had to figure out a way for the parents with Multiple Sclerosis to tell their children about their disease without making the kids too freaked out. Art Directed with wit and charm by Gregory Atkins.

Many thanks to Book Court in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn for hosting the event, Dean Haspiel and Cousin Corinne for curating, and Mike (Comic Archive) Furth for filming and editing. Keep checking the Comic Archive site, there’ll be posting more readings soon by my friends Josh Neufeld and Jen Ferguson.
From the July 31, 2011 issue of the NYT Sunday Magazine. This is a great insider-view story about the last days of Rupert Murdoch’s NEWS OF THE WORLD. I’m really chuffed about the visual solution to panel 2, this is one of those instances in which depicting the subject’s (Rebekah Brooks) body language was more informative than drawing her facial expression. Art Direction by Caleb Bennett, easily one of the best ADs I’ve worked with. A fun job.

I drew this immediately after reading James McMullan’s HIGH FOCUS DRAWING. It’s out of print, but if you can find a copy, get it!

Did this for a concert at my wife and daughter’s school.
