Today’s my 40th birthday and in celebration I thought that I’d post a web-comic of  my BOSWASH map-comic that I self-published ten years ago (!) with a grant from the Xeric Foundation.  Thanks to all of you for the support, encouragement, and helpful criticism that you’ve given me over the years!

Purists will noticed that I edited the panel order and re-lettered BOSWASH. To them I say, it’s now much easier to read. I still have copies of the original map-comic if you’d like  one. Read BOSWASH here.

A sequence of images from Jason Lutes‘ and my HOUDINI: THE HANDCUFF KING are hanging on museum walls as part of the “Monsters and Miracles: A Journey through Jewish Picture Books” show at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The show is up until August 1, 2010 and then travels to the Eric Carle Museum in Western Massachusetts. There are many amazing artists’ pages from comics and children’s books in the show, from Sendak to Steig to Spiegelmantake to Pinkwater as Marc Chagall. So take your pipsqueaks!

Some pages from my unpublished adaptation of Kate Chopin’s THE AWAKENING novel have been included in the massive wall-to-wall comics show NEOINTEGRITY at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA, for short) here in NYC. There are way too many artists to list here, but believe me, I guarantee that you shall find many drawings to be amazed by. The show was curated by my friend and SVA-colleague Keith Mayerson (whose incredible paintings you should look at repeatedly!) and runs until May 30th.

Happy news! My story “How and Why to Bale Hay” from 2009’s SYNCOPATED COMICS Anthology (Villard) has been nominated for an Eisner Award for “Best Short Story”! And to top it all, SYNCOPATED itself has been nominated for an Eisner in the “Best Anthology” category. Congratulations to editor Brendan Burford and all of my friends and fellow cartoonists who contributed to this book!
